Fall Radish Harvest at School Within School
Radishes are such wonderful, edible plants - especially for school gardens. They go from seed to harvest in less than a month, can surprise you with their vibrant underground colors, and children love to eat them. Yes! Children really do love radishes. We took a cue from the French, and have our students slice them thinly and eat them with a slice of whole wheat bread and butter - a traditional French snack for children. The spicy, cold, crunchy radish is a perfect counterpoint to the creamy, soft bread and butter. Our students look forward to radish season, twice a year, all year long.
